Reliable data modelling snapshot - What, why and how?

Snapshot is a term that has grown rapidly in use in the construction industry in recent years. The term is used in a fairly wide variety of ways. A snapshot is a description of the current state of the issues being assessed. The key word is 'current', not 'a week or two ago'.

Various data systems should be used to produce a snapshot. The project partners report on the progress of the work and the big picture is outlined in the system. Great otherwise, but no one wants to add reporting to their workload and it is easy to neglect. The data should be generated as a natural part of the work process, so that the snapshot is reliable and real-time.

With Toiste, the designer does not need to be motivated to do reporting or input data into the system, but rather to be motivated to produce design material that meets the client's requirements. At the same time, they will also be doing the reporting and data entry. With repetition, the data producer will benefit from the data input as well.

For a designer, for example, Toiste serves as an up-to-date checklist. It helps them to know which issues still need attention to ensure that the required deliverables are completed within the agreed timeframe. The data and the evolving snapshot are a by-product of this process.
